FAQ Friday #20 - On my boat tubes, I can see that there is a fabric layer between the two coloured outer layers of the material, so I have Hypalon tubes right?

FAQ Friday #20 - On my boat tubes, I can see that there is a fabric layer between the two coloured outer layers of the material, so I have Hypalon tubes right?

Unfortunately not necessarily as both PVC and Hypalon have a woven fabric layer in them, which is sometimes referred to as the base layer.

The Hypalon we sell is Orca Pennel & Flipo and typically this has a High Tenacity Polyester 1100 dtex - 990denier base fabric.

The PVC we sell also has a base fabric as shown below.

The fabric layer is not a useful way of determining the material type your inflatable RIB or SIB tubes are made from.
